Decorate with Teapots

How can I Decorate with Teapots?

I love a good cup of tea in the morning… most people like a coffee to perk them up… but I’m a ‘teapot’ girl at heart… and I love to  decorate with teapots and all their little accessories…

I completely forgot about the Green Waste bin this morning…

I’m running around in the darkness trying to fill the bin with garden clippings before the waste truck arrives… EVERYTHING is wet… my PJ’s are drenched to the knees… my hands are soaked… feet are numb (forgot slippers!) and I’m cold!!

I’ve got to get the bin on the verge by 7:00am… I’m glad the neighbours can’t see me… I look frightful… some days I wake up feeling ultra-organised and then something like a bin can throw me… thank heavens for that pot of tea brewing away in the kitchen!!

Yes… I have confessed… I am a ‘teapot’ girl, but I still have a plentiful supply of tea bags just in case I run out of tea leaves…

I find the “ART” of making a pot of tea, blissful… every time I make a pot I feel special… it slows me down… makes me appreciate the day before it’s begun (except for this morning!) It almost takes me to another place and time… it’s a tradition that’s not so popular these days… especially with our busy lifestyles… but it’s a tradition from days-gone-by that is SO simple and SO elegant.

There’s no excuse really… modern teapots have built-in strainers. It takes as long to dunk a teabag as it takes to make a pot… I keep a small tea pot at work that has an inbuilt, mesh strainer (makes 2 cups). I found myself a lovely little blue tea caddy that keeps my tea fresh… so when the going gets tough… it’s a pot of tea that saves the day… takes two seconds to brew and puts some joy into my busy working life…

I love decorating with teapots and all the little accessories associated with them… strainers, tea cups and saucers, sugar bowls, little milk jugs, tea cosies, tea caddies, tea trays, teaspoons and cake forks, tea trays, cake stands, doilies, supper cloths (mini tablecloths) and TEA itself… they are all delightful decorating tools.

I never throw out my tea-pots once they’ve retired… they’re put to good use… even if they leak!

Number One hint for decorating with teapots: amass a collection of them… hunt them out in second-hand shops, flea markets, garage/boot sales… you can never have too many teapots…

Here are some eye-catching ideas with a "tea" theme that I love…

The charm of a Vintage teapot… add flowers… what an amazing centrepiece for any table…

An ingenious way to use old teapots…make a lamp…

What a beautiful entrance these teapots make… an invitation to come inside and have a cuppa…

You don't need much more on the table really!!…

This image sums it up for me…blissful…

Next time you have a cup of tea… imagine how you could decorate with teapots and let your creativity escape…

Til we meet again…

  1. I found it very clever.  There are so many ways you can use these for decorating.  Nearly every house has at least one.
